Where these numbers come from
- Rates: Ofgem price cap, Octopus Go off-peak (London example) — the price-cap rate is Ofgem’s, effective July 2026; the others are read live from the Octopus public API, not hardcoded.
- Car data: usable battery, efficiency and charging limits for 50models, each checked against the manufacturer’s published spec.
- The calculation:cost = battery kWh × rate, plus 12% AC charging losses (the energy your meter records but the battery doesn’t keep). Most calculators omit this.
